Carnival Running Tasmania

Carnival running is a tradition of over 130 years in Tasmania. Members of Tasmanian Masters Athletics have the opportunity to participate in a series of handicapped events at carnivals scheduled from November 2019 through to January 2020.

All events are handicapped which gives masters athletes of all ages and abilities the opportunity to receive a reward for their efforts. These rewards vary from carnival to carnival but can include prize-money; sashes and trophies.

The Carnival schedule with closing dates for entries is:

  • 16 November Launceston
  • 24 November Richmond
  • 15 December PCCCT Burnie
  • 21 December Rosebery
  • 28 December Latrobe
  • 29 & 30 December Devonport
  • 31 December Burnie
  • 5 January Hobart
  • 18 January St Helens
  • TBA Central Coast

To register and for information regarding closing dates and event entry fees, please go to the Carnival information 2019-20 page (see link below). Details are updated as events draw closer.

Important: Masters athletes will need to follow the link to register as non-Victorian athletes to obtain log in details. Registration as an athlete (as distinct from event entry) is free. The entry link has all of the carnival details such as dates, closing dates, race values and event entry fees. Entrants in Masters events must be financial members to compete.

If you have any questions, please email Phil Hand, Secretary at [email protected]

The philosophy of the Masters movement is participation. Come along and enjoy yourself in running, walking, throwing and jumping. While membership is restricted to those over 30, children or grandchildren of members are most welcome to participate with us. Only financial members are eligible for Championships however.
