The Australian Masters Games is a biennial sporting event that is regarded as one of the premier and largest participation sporting events on the Australian sporting landscape. In 2019 the 17th edition of the Games will be hosted in Adelaide from Saturday 5th to Saturday 12th October.

The Heart Foundation is proud to be the charity partner of the 17th Australian Masters Games. The Games encourages friendly sporting competition while promoting our mutual goal for physical activity for all levels of fitness.

We know that being physically active is great for your heart health: but the reality is that 56% of Australians are not active enough for good health.

Heart disease is Australia’s biggest killer, taking 51 lives every day.

Any physical activity is better than none at all, so being active every day helps delay, prevent and manage heart disease. That’s why we need more people like you; we need more heart health champions!

You can help to spread the word to encourage others who need support to get active. Sharing your Australian Masters Games story and your passion for exercise and fitness can help your friends and family to get up and get going.

Entertainment

The Games is known just as much for the social program as it is for the sport and this year the party will deliver an exciting entertainment lineup throughout the week, including a tribute to the piano man himself, Billy Joel.

Fresh off a huge national tour, Celebrating the Music of Billy Joel with Anthony Mara will be performing on the final night of the Games, Saturday 12 October, closing the 2019 event in style.

The full live band consists of the finest musicians around, plus state of the art sound and lighting, in a powerful show that has all the classic Billy Joel hits such as: “Piano Man”, “New York State Of Mind”, “Honesty”, “It’s Still Rock’n’roll To Me”, “Uptown Girl”, “We Didn’t Start The Fire”, “River Of Dreams” plus many more.

As always, the Games will kick off with the much-loved athlete march into the Adelaide Convention Centre welcoming everyone to the week-long festival of sport on Saturday 5 October.

Adelaide cover band Blackjack will be on hand bringing the tunes and welcoming the over 8,000 participants and their supporters to the Games. Their music ranges from ABBA and Stevie Wonder to Justin Timberlake and Beyonce and will surely get everyone moving.
