Our club maintains a database of state records for Masters athletics. Records are maintained in five year age groups. Tasmanian Masters records can only be set by financial members of TMA or  members of other states or countries competing in Tasmania.

New Records

M30 Stephen Rae ran an Australian Masters record in the 800m on 30/1/2010 in a time of 1m54.26 beating the previous australian record holder P Schnyder who set the previous record of 1m55.4 in 1997

M75 Barry Cook ran the 1500m in 6m25.45s at St Leonards on 13/1/2010, beating the previous best of 7m24.95 set by S Harrex on 27/3/04

M70 Eric Lockett completed the High Jump, in a new record height of 1.25m 12/12/09, beating the previous best of 1.15m set by A(Nye) Evans on the 31/07/2008

M60 Laurence Marsh Race walked 1500m in 8m06:47s  on the 7/11/2009 beating the previous time of 8m52.0s set in 1984 by R Harrex

M70 Barry Cook completed the 1 Mile in 6m57.24s on 4/11/2009 at St Leonards, beating the previous time of 7m38.8s set by Jim Burr on new years day in 1989

Explanatory notes

  1. If a record is shown in the top section of a box this indicates a Tasmanian Open Record, being the best performance achieved within Tasmania by a Masters athlete who lives outside the state.
  2. If a record is shown in the bottom section of a box this indicates a Tasmanian Residential Record, being the best performance achieved anywhere in the World by a TMA member. If this is the only record shown in the box, it is also a Tasmanian Open Record.
  3. Abbreviations used, and their meanings:
    • WR - Indicates a World Record performance.
    • AR - Indicates an Australian Residential Record performance.
    • (NSW), (Q), (SA), (V), (WA) etc - Indicates the home state of a Tasmanian Open Record holder (where known)
    • (NZ), (GER) etc - Indicates the home country of a Tasmanian Open Record holder (where known)
  4. Times recorded to 2 decimal places of a second indicates that electronic timing equipment was used.
  5. For many years the date of records were recorded as month and year only those details are now shown as the first day of the month.
